Dr. Joseph J. Cano attended the University of Texas Pan American for his undergraduate studies and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern. Dr. Cano then moved to Waco where he completed his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Cano is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology. His special areas of interest include screening and surveillance of colon cancer, fatty liver disease, Gastroesophageal reflux disease, constipation, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, colonoscopy, and esophagogastroduodenoscopy.

 

Dr. Cano chose gastroenterology because it combines multiple fields of medicine that allows him to care for patients using clinical and procedural medicine.

 

In his free time, Dr. Cano enjoys exercising, hiking, reading, and bay fishing in South Texas.
